The project was for three houses in different locations on a coastal site. The character and presence of the site was a strong design force. It was rugged, exposed to southerlies and steep. The main house (shown here) was sited at the end of a spur jutting onto the coastline. The rooms twist themselves to the north to take advantage of the sun but also face east to capture the view. The house forms itself around a coil of movement over 3 levels with the copper roof of the house being the only thing visible from the entry above. The house’s form and shape is only visible from the sea below.
